Decorator Crabs

Yep, they're tricky. They move when you're not looking. I had no idea they could move as quickly as they do! But they are super cool looking.

They have these little claw feet on their front legs and they can cut algae and place it on their backs. They do it to camouflage themselves from predators. So they end up looking like moving pieces of seaweed. Sometimes, they even have tiny anemones growing on their shells. Oh, and they molt! You can find what looks like a dead crab, but it's just the shell. They have squirmed out of it and are off somewhere else with a new, bigger shell that is hardening. No, I haven't named our four crabs yet.

I am 12 years old and have just moved from Texas to The Bubble - which floats on the Pacific Ocean. I do the normal stuff - school and chores. But I also help my parents and the other family we travel with as they all work to save the oceans and animals there. I especially like big ocean animals and do what I can to help them.
